  • Apology letter and post

    Hello Xanga,

I'm sorry you've been feeling neglected.  I know I've been spending all my time on Facebook.  I'm sorry.  But you know I'm not a long, lengthy blog type of writer.  I'm better writing a sentence here or there, which is why Facebook is so enticing.  Regardless, I'm here now and I hope you accept the post below as an apology.  I will try my hardest to get better at visiting you.

    Sincerely,

    Sarah

My sewing machine is at my mom's house.  And it's staying there for the remainder of this week.  I need a break and if it were here I'd talk myself into doing a binding here, a burp cloth there.  I love sewing, don't get me wrong, but there are more pressing issues here in my home.  The bathroom, namely, along with some other neglected rooms.  My online shop opened last weekend.  I had 3 sales the first day and nothing since.  I'm not upset though.  www.sewsweetlysewn.etsy.com  If you haven't seen it, check it out!

For the month of November I'm switching crafting gears and will be focusing on cake decorating.  I'm taking a class that starts tonight, "Fondant and Gum Paste."  I'm very excited, albeit a little nervous.  Fondant scares me!  Weird, huh?!  The reason I'm taking the class, apart from just wanting to learn more, is because I am officially the cake provider for my sister's wedding this coming June.  The cake we'd like to make is covered in fondant with gum paste roses and calla lilies cascading down.  Yeah, I think I need the class.  The beauty below was a gift for doing the wedding cake.  Making icing with this is a breeze!

I helped decorate this adorable cake for Kylie's first birthday and the other is a cake I made for a bridal shower this past weekend.

I am officially back to using shampoo.  My experiment lasted the full 6 weeks.  And although I was surprised how ungreasy my hair was, it was the texture I couldn't handle.  I read that my hair was going to be smoother and softer, but for me that wasn't the case.  The last straw was when I went to run my fingers through my hair and I couldn't.  Forget this, I thought.  So back to good ole' shampoo and conditioner!  It was an interesting experiment though.

We've been enjoying lots of good fall fun.  Trips to farms, picking out pumpkins, playing in leaves.  I'm so glad it's November now.  Onto bigger and better holidays!

  • !!WARNING!! picture overload

Life is back to normal.  That is, the party planning, cake baking and decorating and scrapbooking has all ended, for now.  We had a wonderful weekend celebrating our little man's first birthday.

Here's some more stats about Zach:

    Height- 28 inches  (10th %)

    Weight- 18 lbs 7 oz  (3rd %)

Head- not sure but he's just about in the 75th %!

Teeth- 9 and the 10th is coming through any day now.  (Those molars are buggers)

Looking back through Ally's growth records, I was shocked to see that Ally was bigger that Zach at her first birthday.  I guess we do have a little peanut.  Obviously this means he's still rear-facing but hopefully once we get his brand new car seat in, he'll be able to see Ally and won't be so bored.

    Now for the pictures:

  • Sigh...

Has it really been a year?  (No need to answer that question, I know.)  Looking at the time, it's almost to the hour of the moment Zachary Scott entered the world and our lives.  Oh how we've enjoyed having him as a part of our family.  It's hard to imagine a time when he wasn't, he just fits in so nicely.

    Birth 004

    Birth 008

Today we got to spend some time together, just me and him.  We cuddled a lot and he showered me with kisses.  I was amazed, again, how unique each child is.

Zach is alert.  From the day he was born, we found out that he isn't all that interested in sleeping and would much rather be involved in anything else.  If sleeping must occur then where better than in the arms of a willing mama?  Other arms will suffice if, and only if, mama is not available.  It's only been in the last few months that he's been sleeping and napping consistently.

    Birth 018

Zach is always smiling.  Seriously.  Always!  If he's going to be awake, at least he's pleasant.  His smile is contagious and oh so cute.  He make friends everywhere we go because he is so expressive with his face and generous with his smiles.  Oh and have I mentioned the dimples?  The best ever!  I love walking into his room each morning and being greeted by him.

    3 weeks 005

    006

Zach a man on the move.  I have a hard time keeping up with him.  He knows how to squeak through the gate and loves climbing the stairs.  He tries to walk up the swing set slide.  He's made it about half way up too!  He tries to jump on Ally's trampoline and crawls/climbs on and up anything he's not supposed to.  He hasn't officially taken a step but he's getting close.  I think he might bypass walking and go straight to running!

    014

    013

    040

    001

Zach is a man of few words.  I have a feeling that's he's not going to keep up with his sister's word count but he is definitely more willing to let you know how he feels about most anything.  He's said "dada" and I think I heard "mama" a few times.  My mom claims he's said "car-car" when I wasn't around.

Zach has accumulated quite the list of nicknames including but not limited to:  Zach-y, Buddy boy, Wacky Zachy, Stinker, Stinker-poo, Zach-a-zoo, Zuzu...

I've been tempted to be a little sad today as we pass this milestone and as I watch my baby become less dependent on me.  But it's just so fun and exciting to watch him learn and grow, even at the expense of his poor mother's sentimentality.  I have been praying for him.  That he would grow to love God and to serve and honor Him with his life.  That he will learn obedience.  And that his tender heart will be protected from this harsh world.

Some more pictures.  Just because he's the cutest little guy.  (Second to your child of course!)
